Directions

By car

Take the M74 from the south* and M8 from the east. Follow signs for Glasgow M8 and Greenock M8 and then take the A8 through Port Glasgow, Greenock to Gourock.

Take the Western Ferry Service at McInroys Point, just two miles south of Gourock.

TIP:There is no ticket office at Macinroy Point. You can buy the tickets on board but they are much more expensive. Best thing to do is to purchase them from their website or stop at the KeyStore Paul's Food & Wine Convenience Store in Gourock (94 Shore St, PA19 1RB) or Co-Op Supermarket.

On arrival in Dunoon (Hunter's Quay), turn left out of the ferry terminal to the centre of Dunoon and the main pier. Continue past the pier and the Rock Cafe, up the hill and take the first left onto Park Avenue. Follow ahead and turn right onto Victoria Parade. We are the third B&B on the right hand side.

* If you are travelling by car from the south, you can also take the land route - it takes you along Loch Lomond, over Rest and Be Thankful, and alongside Loch Eck. It's a very scenic drive and the roads are smooth. During busy season, there might be a little bit of traffic or you might get stuck behind a lorry so do allow extra time!

Public transport

It will take you just over an hour to get to us from Glasgow. From Glasgow Central, take the Scot Rail train to Gourock that leaves roughly every half an hour and takes around 40 minutes. The trains connect to the Gourock – Dunoon ferry which is another half hour or so.

When you come out from the ferry terminal, walk towards the main road and take a left. Continue past the Rock Café and bear left onto the Promenade (Victoria Parade). Continue for a couple of minutes, we are in the next terrace past the Esplanade Hotel.

Parking

We have 3 parking spaces (6 when doubled up) at the front of our property, enough for 6 cars if everyone parks thoughtfully. These are on a first come, first served basis. If we run out of space, we will show you where you can park for free locally. Please be sure to park in front of The St Ives vs. another home/hotel to ensure they have enough room to park their own vehicles.

Booking and cancellations

It's always best to book us directly via our website, email or phone. Our direct rates are always cheaper than those on Booking.com (due to their commission fees).

Please note the cancellation policy before committing to a reservation.

We are a small business, so cancellations can have a big impact on us, especially if we have turned away potential guests in favour of someone who has already booked and who then cancels. For this reason we advise that you take out a suitable insurance product in case you are unable to travel.

If a reservation is cancelled less than 14 days before date of arrival or in case of a no show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. (upd: 14 Aug 2021)

Bookings made via third parties such as Booking.com may be subject to different terms and conditions in force at the time of booking - always read all the info carefully before making the booking.
